HIKES AND BIKES AND BIOLOGY SOMETIMES

Siouxon Creek

Mink Sighting

I was here once in the late 90s on a mountain bike ride, but didn’t actually ride my mountain bike much because of snow.  I recall a lot of silly running.

Anyway almost 20 years later and I’m back for a longer slower visit.

What can I say? It was just another really beautiful hike along a beautiful river on a warm cloudless day in March.

The forests around Siouxon Creek were burned in the Yacolt Burn of 1902.  I’m not sure if they were salvage logged or replanted, but they appear to be natural stands of trees for the most part, which makes for a nicer experience than a tree plantation.  It’s not full of huge trees, but it is very nice.

Bright sun, forests, and photography don’t mix that well, but I try.
