HIKES AND BIKES AND BIOLOGY SOMETIMES

Shake Out

First gravel adventure ride

After sitting around way too long waiting for the rain to stop, for it to get warmer, or just because, Derick and I finally got out to ride.

I’m calling this my first real gravel ride, I’ve ridden on gravel that I can ride to from my front door, but when you get onto logging roads and behind gates, it gets more exciting.

Anyway it’s pretty awesome to have this right in my back yard (20 min drive) and a great way to start gravel riding.

Photograph of a pile of maybe 200 logs neatly piled along the side of a muddy gravel road, in the background is a log loader and the surrounding area is forested
Photograph of my shins completely covered in a thin layer of mud. I was wearing leg warmers and shoe covers so there is a crisp line where the mud stops and my skin starts just below the knee and above my sock line
