HIKES AND BIKES AND BIOLOGY SOMETIMES

Lower Lewis River

Another one of those places you hear about

Having lived in Oregon for 20 years, you hear about all kinds of places but sometimes it takes you a little while to get there.

I know this trail as a place to go mountain biking but since I like to hike with my wife, we hiked.

It was a warm sunny Tuesday afternoon and I expected to see other people out here, but we had the place to ourselves. I think everyone was at Dog Mountain.

This is another hike with great lowland old-growth. It feels a little like the redwoods or the Olympic rainforests. I have a feeling this would be even more awesome in the fall or earlier in the spring; it’s probably good for some mid-summer swimming too.
