A Classic Mt. Hood Hike
Apparently this is a popular hike, but again, getting a late start on a Tuesday, we essentially had the place to ourselves.
We took a peek at the Ramona Falls trailhead and chose to head to Burnt Lake as there were about 10 cars there.
This hike is almost all uphill, but it’s not steep. It’s a decent workout though. You ascend through some lush forests, cross a couple of streams and a bunch of seeps, and there are a few views of Mt. Hood on the way in and out.
Circumambulating the lake is a little bit of a bushwhack, but you are rewarded with a classic view of Mt. Hood reflected in the lake and a bunch of nice lunch spots.
Left to my own devices, I would have topped out at East Zigzag Mountain, but that’ll have to wait for another day.
