HIKES AND BIKES AND BIOLOGY SOMETIMES

Harry’s Ridge

Resume

It’s been way way too long, but here we go again. I think the last hike had us in the spring thaw and this hike had a light dusting of snow, so I guess we missed the whole damn summer this year. WTF?

Anyway, this one’s been on the bucket list and I think we’ll have to come back in the spring to check out the wildflowers. Kate was just too tuckered out to make it to the top of the trail. I don’t think the view improves much, but it was just right there, so … next time I guess.

I would be remiss if I didn’t recommend spending some time looking around the Johnston Ridge Observatory. I found the stories of the eruption-related deaths compelling, particularly the story of David A. Johnston and the other USGS scientists.
